Green point of NGO festival in Bucharest

In Bucharest Herăstrău Park, Charles de Gaulle entrance, on the Alley of Diversity, at Tent 108, on June 17, “Greentourism Civic-point” was opened at ONGfest 2017, the largest outdoor event dedicated to civil society from Romania.

Organized annually, ONGFest aims to contribute to the increase of the number of citizens actively involved in the community to development of the associative spirit and to increase the involvement of Romanian associations and foundations in society.

In the Romanian NGO festival, we have give to visitors of Bucharest the opportunity to get acquainted with the initiatives in charge of tourism at our “Green Tourism” Civic Point at ONGfest. The main goal of Greentourism civic point was to facilitate information sharing and understanding of the audience who have an interest in sustainable, responsible, eco, sweet, slow etc tourism with focus in two key areas:

– Green Social – Social inclusiveness, employment and poverty reduction;

– Green Environment – Resource efficiency, environmentally protection, biodiversity conservation and adapt to climate change.

The United Nations 70th General Assembly has designated 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development like an unique opportunity to raise awareness on the contribution of sustainable tourism to development among public and private sector decision-makers and the public, while mobilizing all stakeholders to work together in making tourism a catalyst for positive change.

In the context of the universal 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our ngo aims is to busting a change in Romanian tourism production practices and Romanian tourism consumer behavior towards a more green tourism sector than can contribute to the SDGs.

Especially this year 2017, but not only, Greentourism Ecologic Association are focussed in more key areas:

– Green Economy – Inclusive and sustainable economic growth;

– Green Culture – Common cultural values and heritage, unity in diversity;

– Green Friendly – Mutual people understanding, peace and security.

Visitors have discovered how our association for the development of a different tourism has contributed for almost ten years to the development of a sustainable, responsible, sustainable Romanian tourism, in a single word: green! We had the opportunity to present our green vision with other participating organizations that take on us as well as a responsible commitment to society and the environment.

We also tested (as Nature allowed us) the public’s willingness to join our initiatives. Not just as a simple spectator, but an active part of this experience, I gave the slippers (green) in the gift for the green tourism lovers and I opened the craving for the excursion from the beginning of the holiday.

On the second day it can be said that the event continued at the Romanian Peasant Club due to unfavorable weather consequence of Climate Changing. In meeting our association has higthliting the importance of supporting the social and cultural ecological reconversion of classic tourism to achieve all those green values ​​that are targeted by global goals events in the context of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Development Objectives (SDG) in this 2017 International Year of Turism for Sustainable development.
